2019 Edition

The second edition of the PDHA, organized by the Digital Health Academy with 43 patient associations and the unconditional but passionate contribution of the MSD Foundation, collected over 70 applications for innovative digital health projects and solutions.

The award ceremony was held on October 18, 2019 at the Ara Pacis in Rome. During the event it was possible to listen to the testimonies of Alberto Tozzi, Head of Innovation and Clinical Paths at the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, who explained how patients are 'impatient' to find more and more solutions and answers from technological innovations; the blogger Eva (nome blog), told her story of resilience and how she found the support of the digital community; and, finally, Rodolfo Laganà, an Italian actor who, with his ironic streak, reminded everyone how, even in illness, you should never lose your smile.

The second edition of PDHA was also an opportunity to reflect on the concept of digital and technological Humanism. We asked the 43 patient associations of the PDHA jury to discuss how much the technology is human. A survey was also conducted between July and September 2019, involving about 1000 patients. The results offer an interesting insight not only on the use of digital technologies, but also on their importance when, keeping in mind actual needs and demands, they become more 'human' and thus improve people's lives.
